Sick baby on hands

My 8 mo has a viral throat infection and a fever that keeps coming back so he 's taking baby advil every 6 hours. He picked it up at his baby sitter's where another baby had a bacterial throat infection. So baby D has been having troubled nights where he gets up every 2 hours crying and refusing to go back to sleep. He's so irritable he cries at almost anything. He has a fever of 102F and a red, sore throat that made it painful for him to swallow. He is generally a healthy baby and has never fallen ill so bad.He refuses to take the bottle and I have to force him to feed from his bottle to avoid dehydration.

My poor hubby wasn't able to sleep much at night too and went in very late to work today. He woke up at 7, took a shower and was about to get dressed to work.I have no clue as to what happened then. When me and my baby woke up at 10:00 AM, DH was fast asleep on the couch.Poor guy.

Daani has always been a good sleeper at night.People would ask us since he was a month old if we were able to get a good night's sleep.I found it funny because he was a good sleeper at night and we never had any problems.I now know what they meant.

Welcome to parenthood :)

Is it too early for tantrums ?

So the last two days have been crazy with my 8mo throwing tantrums for everything. He is having a hard time going to bed.I thought its due to teething because he has been gnawing badly at everything around. But I am not sure.My hubby thinks we should try to discipline him.But I scared him off telling him that to discipline an 8mo would invite the child protection services to our house. However, I do feel I'm spoiling my 8mo.He realizes now that all he needs to do is cry and we give him whatever he wants or play baby videos on youtube or let him stay up late.

I always thought  I would be the strict parent and my hubby would go easy and spoil our kids. But now I find myself totally unable to bear my baby crying or upset. My hubby doesn't care if he cries and wants to make sure he's in bed at the right time and so on.In fact, it was my hubby who taught him to hold the bottle and feed himself.I couldn't get myself to do that since I always found him to enjoy himself more when we were feeding him.Surprisingly, he doesn't mind holding the bottle and feeding himself when my hubby is around. But around me he cries and insists I hold him in my arms and feed him while he plays with my hair or touches my face and basically just lounges in my lap.

Can 8mo be that smart ? :~

My boo boo turns 8mo

My baby turns 8 months old today. There are times when I reflect back to the days when I was still single and find it hard to believe that I have an 8 mo.

He keeps me on my toes all days long and follows me almost everywhere.Yes, even to the restroom where he sits outside banging on the door.I can't get anything done without having my little spy following me.He wants to eat everything I eat.He wants to go wherever I go.He even follows the hoover around while I'm vaccuming the living room.My funny little guy has been crawling for a month now.He can stand holding onto some support such as a chair or holding my shirt. He can hold the bottle and feed himself. He explores the kitchen when I'm cooking. He loves it when I open the dishwasher and some days when I'm too busy to notice, he gets into the dishwasher and sits in there until I get him out.

The only time when he can sit quietly is when I'm reading to him.I started reading to him since he was 6mo.The first book I bought for him was the Mirror Me Baby book by Baby Einstein http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Einstein-Mirror-Julie-Aigner-Clark/dp/0786808438.
He absolutely loved it.He loves looking at himself in the mirror. So everytime he got fussy before a nap or just over stimulated, we would read out loud from this book and every single time it worked.About a month later, I bought two other books for him, Moo Baa La la la http://www.amazon.com/Moo-Baa-Sandra-Boynton/dp/067144901X and the First 100 words Bright Baby http://www.amazon.com/First-100-Words-Bright-Baby/dp/B000F7BPCU.
He enjoys both the books but the mirror me is his favorite. In fact, he would be busy doing something or even crying but the minute me or my DH read something from the mirror book, he would stop midway and crawl to us and we would read out to him.

Happy 8month birthday bubbles and many more to come :)
